- A gang saw or wire saw cuts the block into slabs of uniform thickness, typically 2-3 cm, ensuring minimal waste.
Sizing and Shaping
- Slabs are moved to a bridge saw or CNC cutting machine for precise trimming to panel dimensions (e.g., 12x24 inches).
- For irregular edges or custom shapes, a water jet cutter uses high-pressure water for clean, accurate cuts without heat damage.
Surface Finishing
- To create the veneer look, we use a polishing machine with diamond abrasives to achieve a glossy or matte finish, highlighting onyx's translucency.
- For a textured feel, a sandblaster or hand chiseling is applied, giving each panel a natural, rugged appearance.
Backing and Reinforcement
- Panels are attached to a fiberglass mesh or plywood backing using epoxy resin for durability and easy installation.
- A vacuum press ensures the backing bonds securely, preventing cracks or delamination.
Quality Control and Packaging
