Installation Guide

Installation Guide

Tools You Will Need

  • Diamond-tipped wet saw or angle grinder for precise cuts
  • Notched trowel (1/4-inch or 3/8-inch) for adhesive application
  • Rubber mallet for gentle tapping to level panels
  • Spirit level and measuring tape for alignment
  • Spacers to maintain even gaps between panels
  • Bucket, sponge, and clean cloths for cleanup
  • Safety goggles, gloves, and dust mask for protection

Materials Required

  • High-quality thin-set mortar or stone adhesive (flexible for quartzite)
  • Grout (matching or contrasting color, epoxy recommended for durability)
  • Sealer (penetrating sealer for natural stone, pre-seal if needed)
  • Backer board or cement board for stable substrate
  • Screws and anchors for securing backer board (if on drywall)

Site Preparation Steps

  1. Ensure the wall surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or old paint.
  2. Repair any cracks or uneven areas with patching compound; sand smooth.
  3. Apply a primer to porous surfaces to improve adhesion.
  4. Install cement backer board over drywall or plywood for moisture resistance, screwing every 6 inches.
  5. Mark layout lines on the wall using a level and chalk line to ensure straight installation.
  6. Pre-cut panels to fit edges, corners, or outlets using a wet saw to minimize chipping.
  7. Dry-fit panels on the floor to check pattern and alignment before applying adhesive.

Installation Tips

  • Mix thin-set mortar according to manufacturer instructions; apply with notched trowel in small sections.
  • Press each panel firmly into place, using spacers for consistent gaps.
  • Tap gently with a rubber mallet to level; check with spirit level frequently.
  • Allow mortar to cure for 24-48 hours before grouting.
  • Apply grout with a rubber float, wiping excess with a damp sponge.
  • Seal the quartzite after grout dries to protect against stains and moisture.
