Installation Tips for Professionals
Before You Install
- Pre-seal the slabs: Marble is porous; pre-sealing prevents stains from oil, dirt, or water.
- Check for variations: Each slab has unique veining and color – plan layout for visual balance.
Base Preparation
- Sub-base: Use a 6-8 inch layer of crushed stone (Class 2 or equivalent), compacted to 95% density.
- Sand layer: A 1-inch layer of sharp, coarse sand for leveling. Avoid wet mortar beds unless specified.
- Drainage: Slope the base away from structures (1/4 inch per foot) to prevent standing water.
Cutting and Handling
