Essential Tools & Materials Checklist

Required Tools:

• Layout: Tape measure, carpenter's square, 4-foot level, chalk line.
• Cutting/Shaping: Diamond-blade wet saw (essential), angle grinder with polishing pads.
• Handling: Professional-grade suction cups (minimum two), sturdy support beams or lifting frame.
• Fitting: Notched trowel (1/4" x 1/4"), rubber mallet, clamps, shims.
• Finishing: Caulking gun, buckets, sponges.

Required Materials:

• High-quality, flexible epoxy or polyester resin adhesive formulated for stone (never use standard tile mastic).
• 3/4" thick plywood substrate securely fastened to cabinets.
• Penetrating granite sealer for optimal stain protection.
• Undermount sink template (if applicable), faucet set.
• Color-matched silicone caulk for seams.

Critical Preparation Steps

1. Professional Templating: Have an exact template created using cardboard or digital methods by an experienced fabricator. This must include precise cutouts for sinks, cooktops, and faucets.
2. Substrate Inspection & Leveling: Ensure the plywood base is perfectly clean, dry, flat,and rigid. Reinforce cabinet frameworks as needed. Use a long level across the entire run; correct any unlevel areas with shims under the plywood before slab placement. The substrate must not flex.
3. Site Preparation: Clear a wide path from entry to kitchen.Remove all items from existing counters and protect floors/appliances from dust and debris.

Final Fitting & Sealing Procedure

1. Carefully lower the slab onto the prepared substrate using suction cups and support beams.
2. Apply adhesive evenly to the plywood using the notched trowel.
3. Set the granite gently into place,tapping lightly with a rubber mallet for full adhesive contact.Use clamps at seams if necessary.Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately.
4. Allow adhesive to cure fully as per manufacturer instructions(typically24-48 hours).
5. Apply a penetrating granite sealer according to the product directions for enhanced stain resistance.
